Joy Complete

I smile at the thought that my joy is complete. This has double meaning for me.

In regards to needlecraft, it means I am one step further along on my fruit of the Spirit quilt. This quilt will feature the nine characteristics outlined in Galatians 5:22-23 – love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Each letter is hand-appliqued onto a fabric square. The squares are then sewn together to form the words. This project has been in the works for a while and I am delighted to see some progress. Just eight more to go! :)

The second meaning is more personal. I am so grateful that my joy has been made complete because God has made me a new creation through Jesus. When I surrendered control and made Jesus my Master, deciding to follow and obey Him, the old me was made new. God’s power has enabled me to do what I couldn’t do in my own strength like have true joy – joy complete. This joy isn’t influenced by circumstances, conditions, or other people but comes from God Himself through His Spirit – hence it is a fruit of the Spirit. This joy is always mine to have because I am His and nothing will change that.
